Jordan Santos did not ask for any of this.
He just wanted a normal summer. Instead, an ancient villain attacks his grandmother’s island, and now he’s stuck on a legendary magic boat called the Sun Chaser — responsible for a mismatched crew of cousins and outcasts, sailing through a world of Filipino mythology, trying to save islands he’s still getting to know.
He doesn’t fit in perfectly anywhere. He doesn’t have all the answers. And he has absolutely no idea what he’s doing.
He’s figuring it out as he goes.
Creator Bernard Badion and director Bobby Pontillas started building the Sun Chaser world with nothing but an idea and each other. Their story will be familiar to many of us:
Bobby and I are third culture kids. We grew up Filipino, but not from the Philippines. Caught between worlds. And for a long time that in-between feeling was something we didn’t know what to do with. But through a lot of conversations and mis-steps we found a story we both wanted to tell.
